After hours

Ideas that kept us up at night.

The things we make when nobody is asking. Each one starts with a question we couldn't put down, and a lot of what we bring to client work was figured out here first, late, on the bench.

DeepCut

An app that reads your Spotify or Tidal library and tells you the story your years of saved songs have been telling.

The thinking

Story over chart. A dashboard is something you squint at. Liner notes are something you read.

The Humanoid

An animatronic humanoid with a face that moves, eyes that look back at you, and a torso full of servos. It started as a head and kept growing.

The thinking

Start with the part that looks back at you. Everything else can grow from there.

How and why
The Anansi overview: a ring chart of job status and a grid of worker cards.

Anansi

The job queue behind Eshu and DeepCut. It hands out the work, keeps track of who is doing it, and notices when something falls over.

The thinking

Build the thing that runs the things once. Then stop rebuilding it for every project.

How and why
An Eshu property page: an aerial map of the lot beside a radar chart of six scores and the key numbers.
Ongoing · 2026 · Software

Eshu

Point it at a house and Eshu reads eleven public records on it, then writes the story of that house and its block in plain language, with every number next to something that makes it mean something.

The thinking

Every place has a story. The data is how you find it.

How and why
Three clay pieces on the printer bed, a square box, a tall pot and a short bowl. Hover to watch

BigMuddy

A delta 3D printer of Charles's own design that prints in clay slip instead of plastic.

The thinking

Nobody asked for a printer that prints in mud. That is usually where the good stuff is.

How and why

What are we building?
