Prototypes

A working version in your hands early, so the idea survives its first meeting with a fabricator. And for the thing nobody has built before, a way to find out if it can be.

Tell us what you need

  1. 01

    The riskiest part first

We find the part most likely to fail and build that before anything else.

  2. 02

A test with a pass or fail

Decided before we start, so the result is a real answer, not a feeling.

  3. 03

A working proof you can touch

Rough, honest and in your hands, early.

  4. 04

    Notes for the real build

What we learned, written down for whoever builds the final one.

We built our own clay printer. Nobody asked for that either.

The shop is full of things that didn't exist until someone wanted them: a 3D printer that prints ceramic, robots that draw, a display that glows through solid wood, a humanoid that started as a head. Prototyping is how we think.

For clients, that means we build the scariest part first, in days, not months, and test it until it either works or tells us what to do instead.

  • Prototype sprint

About two weeks. A working version of the riskiest part.

  • Proof of concept

A complete rough version, for the pitch or the client.

What if it doesn't work?
Then you found out for the price of a prototype instead of the price of a build. We tell you what we learned and what we'd try next.
Who owns what we make?
[To decide: usually you own the expression and we keep the underlying system. See the R&D notes.]
